al-makura_projectsThe Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-makura has begun intensifying efforts towards speedy actualisation of its urban renewal policy.

With this resolve, the Governor kicked off touring ongoing road projects within the state capital.

During the tour, he disclosed that the move is aimed at giving the state capital, Lafia a face-lift and reduce gridlock in the city centre.

During the inspection, Governor Al-Makura expressed dissatisfaction with the level of some projects, and threatened to revoke any contract that did not meet the agreed standards.

He further cautioned those handling the construction of over 600 bridges and culverts in all the Local Government Areas and development areas to hasten up, so that they can complete them before the rains sets in, so as to bring succor to rural dwellers especially who are cut off due the rains most at times.

“So also the culverts and bridges we are building in the villages and hinterlands, I am using this opportunity to call on all the contractors given the contracts for the construction of culverts and bridges in all the nooks and crannies, villages to complete their job within this month”

“We have given contracts of over 661 culverts and bridges and they are meant to be completed in 45 days. It is already 15 days so we have 30 clear days for the contractors to finish their job”.

“Any contractor that does not finish his job within the next 30 days, the job will stand revoked”, he said.

“We are doing this so that we will bring succor to the people, because a lot of villages are cut off during the raining season. We have taken clear statistics about all those water logged areas, where people in the villages find it difficult to cross to other villages”.

“We will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that these contracts are completed before the end of this month or before the middle of match, when rains will start to pour”, he said.
